Explain the rural employment generation programme started by government to reduce poverty
With the aim of better targeting the anti-poverty measures government has came up with various targeted anti-poverty programmes. One such programme was Rural Employment Generation Programme (REGP).
This programme was launched in 1995. The main objective of the programme was to create self-employment opportunities in rural areas and small towns. It has net target of 25 Lakh new job creation under the Tenth five year plan.
