Explain any three problems faced by the peasants of Awadh.

1. In Awadh. peasants’ revolt against the talukdars and landlords who demanded exorbitantly high rents and variety of other taxes was taken forward by Baba Ramchandra – sanyasi who had earlier been to Fiji as an indentured labourer.
2. Peasants had to do begar (work without any wages or payment) and work at landlords’ farms without any payment.
3. As tenants, they had no security of tenure and were regularly evicted so that they could not acquire rights over the leased land.
